Lethbridge Metal Roofing
Some people think that metal roofs are only for commercial roofing scenarios or installed on barns. They may have been the case before, but now metal roofs are also installed on residential homes as well. Lethbridge metal roofs are typically one of the following profiles:
Corrugated, or ribbed (which it is commonly called), profile is the most common type of metal roof. There are also many different options on the profile as well as gauge and colour. Gauge refers to the thickness of the metal. We typically install 29 gauge, but can also do 26 or 24 depending on the colour and profile.
Standing Seam Profile
The standing seam profile is what you often see on commercial or high end residential properties. It’s claim to fame is that the fasteners are hidden, thus producing a sleek clean look. Standing seam is a little more expensive than the corrugated option. This is typically 26 gauge and comes in a variety of colours.
The advantage to a metal roof is the longevity. It could be possible to get 50 years out of a metal roof. That being said, metal roofs do have to be maintained but changing all of the fasteners ever 10-12 years. The rubber stopper on the fastener dries out and cracks over time causing the potential for leaking where the screw penetrates the metal.
